What Can a Robot Do for You?

We were supposed to be in the robotic age by now. There are robots in many factories, but we don’t see them much when we ramble nearby the mall. I haven’t seen one robot out shopping for its master. Have you?

I haven’t seen a robot drive a car down the highway. If there was such a robot, I would want one. Then I could sit in the back of my conversion van and watch television or a Vcr tape like Sahara starring Humphrey Bogart.

Solar Watch

No robot cleans my house beeping me to raise my feet. No robot cooks me lunch. No robot brings me my graham crackers and milk. My wife still does all of that.

What Can a Robot Do for You?

Shoveling snow should be a snap for a robot. My local hardware store is fresh out.

At Christmas time we regularly see a robot at Radio Shack. It can move a round but not do much useful. I haven’t been able to buy a robot to polish my car. (Actually, I never polish my car either. I think the dirt forms a protective layer.)

I went to the Robot Store to see what was ready http://www.robotstore.com/catalog/list.asp?cid=61.

There I found that I could buy a robotic bug for about fifty bucks.

I determined the Cybug Scarab artificial Lifeform Kit #3-466. If I bought two bugs I could add the Cybug Predator/Prey Instinct Add-on Kit #3-501 for about thirty-three bucks. My total would be 2.85. Now I would have hunter and hunted action.

I decided to take a look at the butterflies. I could get a Monarch, a Swallowtail, or a Ulysses for thirty bucks.

Then the queen ant caught my eye. You can buy a set of solar wings for her. The total would be about seventy bucks.

The inch-worm robot (which everyone loves) cost one hundred eighty bucks. Pretty pricey for something you’re going to squish if you step on it.

Honda has a humanoid robot. See this handsome critter at http://world.honda.com/Asimo/. There is a lot of stuff on this site but it was slow. I didn’t see much of what was offered.

I learned at http://world.honda.com/news/2006/c060126Asimo/ that “Asimo made a guest appearance at this year’s Digital Lifestyle Day (Dld06) in Munich, Germany, on January 23 - 24. Dld06 is one of Europe’s most influential technology forums and is organized by Hubert Burda Media.”

Asimo gets around.

You can learn Asimo’s capabilities at [http://asimo.honda.com/docs/News/newsarticle_0048.asp]. He can hold your hand and walk along your side. He now has a basket to put stuff in. You can watch him climb stairs and do other things at [http://asimo.honda.com/inside_asimo_movies.asp].

I’ve decided to make an appointment with Asimo so I could chat with him (or it or her). I sent an email to him at Honda.com. I got an immediate respond that said,
”Hi! I’m not in right now. It’s time for my hot bath and polish. Please perceive me later.” It was signed, “Your truthful robot, Asimo.”

Well, habitancy are serving Asimo and not the opposite. I’ll check back in a year or two.

The End

How Mayan Calendar Anticipates The End Of The Planet In 2012

Lately, there were a large number of rumors about the Mayan calculation on the doomsday in 2012. The National Geographic has a show that unearths the way in which the Mayan citizen make prophecy on time cycle. Agreeing to the Mayan prophecy, the world will perceive a great change. The convert will cause the world to come to be different.

Many scientists claim that the impending polar shift will destroy the earth. This isn't true because a polar shift takes about 1,000,000 years to happen. About 5,200 years back, the Mayan civilization was totally wiped out by a terrible ice hurricane. The whole Mayan civilizations are covered with a thick sheet with ice in one night. It is thinkable, that there'll be even more heavy atmosphere disaster in the 21st century. Some of the signs that the world is arrival to an end are natural catastrophes like floods, thunderstorms, quake, volcano eruptions, storm and etc that are occurring on earth. If you read the news, you'll know that a lot of storms had been occurring in America. More and more hurricanes are occurring in the U. S.. Tornadoes that are stronger than the Ef2 tornadoes are occurring colse to the planet.

Solar Watch

There also are folks that believe that the earth will collide with someone else planet and come to be destroyed for all time. Some citizen spread rumor that there will be an awful war eg the 3rd world war that may destroy all of the living forms on earth together with animals and humans.

How Mayan Calendar Anticipates The End Of The Planet In 2012

Scientists that study Mayan epigraphy from the University of Texas claim the 21st of December 2012 is the end of time. Instead, it is an anniversary of creation notable by the non secular Mayan folks. He said that the Mayan citizen never recounted the world will end in 2012. The Mayan calendar is awfully different to the contemporary solar calendar. In the Mayan calendar, there are only 260 days. There are fiver time cycles. Each time cycle lasts for 5125 years.

According to the Mayan calendar, the 21st century is at the end of the one of the time cycle. The Mayan calendar shows that the 21st century is at the end of the 5 cycles of time. The Mayan closed that humanity will reach the peak of 26000 event at the end of the five cycles of time. The scientist at Nasa claimed the earth will stand still for three days. After that, it will make a 90 degree revolution in 60 minutes at 200 miles per hour. While this rotation, all of the volcanoes on earth will explode. In one hour, 2 / a few of the world citizen will die. Volcano ash will cover the face of the earth for approximately 6 months. As a consequence, there'll be no sun for six months. Scientists worked out that 10% of the Earth citizen will survive while the remainder of the 90% of the citizen will die. If you are concerned in learning more about the Mayan prediction, you can watch the 2012 film about doomsday. The film shows how humanity will come to an end within a short period of time.

Have You Seen The New Travelers insurance Commercial?

Travelers assurance has a trio of commercials that are going viral on the web. They are great in understanding and doing and we can expect them to receive numerous awards. These are outstanding examples of the art of advertising, especially the latest Travelers assurance Commercial, the dog commercial.

The three commercials in the series are circulating on the web under the titles Travelers assurance Dog Commercial, Travelers assurance Watering Hole and Travelers assurance Rattlesnake. All three commercials use animals behaving unusually to reach customers on the topic of risk. Risk is a turn off for many, and these commercials draw the viewer in, withholding the subject matter until the very end.

Solar Watch

In Dog, a cute terrier is awoken from a nap by the sounds of his scholar returning home. The dog grabs his bone from his dish and hides it in the laundry basket. He later finds it on the sofa.

Have You Seen The New Travelers insurance Commercial?

He takes it outside and buries it. That night he watches the pile of earth from a window, worrying that his bone will be discovered. He digs it up under cover of night, hops on a city bus and is at a bank when it opens in the morning.

He goes into a bank and puts the bone in a safety deposit box. That afternoon his sleep is troubled as he dreams about his bone being stolen. He wakes, runs through the city, grabs his bone, brings it home and returns it to the bone dish it was in when we started. A voice over tells us that, when it comes to things we value, we can trust Travelers.

The Watering Hole and the Rattlesnake commercials are good if not better. In the Watering Hole, the lion legitimately lays down with the lamb. And the zebra. It is a triumph of using computer generated animation in the aid of a message. The same goes for the menacing rattler who turns out to have a baby rattle on the end of its tail.

1st Grade Science Fair Projects

A first grade science fair task enables a first grader to learn science in a fun way. Science fair projects plant the seed of interest in science, in a child. It inflames their imagination and arouses their interest in the world nearby them. The first grade is the ideal time to introduce a child to the extraordinary world of science and allow the child to witness and satiate his or her curiosity. The child also learns to be methodical and organized as the task follows a scientific recipe and is based on scientific concepts and principles which children are able to grasp easily.

While a classroom lecture often tends to be one-sided with the teacher giving the maximum number of inputs, a task focuses on the creativity and initiative of the child. The child is complex in his task a hundred percent. Science fair projects also help in strengthening the bond in the middle of parents and children, as the child commonly turns to the parent for topic ideas and finally selecting the topic.

Solar Watch

For a first grade science fair task to be successful, the following tips should be kept in mind.

1st Grade Science Fair Projects

1.Allow the child to pick the experiment only if the topic interests the child. If they don't want to do it, you'll struggle the whole time.

2.While the teacher or parent can lend a helping hand and guide the child, the child should be allowed to work independently. No adult should ever take unblemished operate of the project. The adult should just keep an eye open to ensure that there are no accidents or mishaps. Suggestions and guidelines can also be given but the child should be allowed to do the experiment and draw his or her own conclusions from it. This way a child learns much more.

3.Allow the child to have fun while doing the project

4.Allow the child to experiment as one task idea can lead to many questions and new ideas.

5.Allow the child to be creative as a child can have an entirely dissimilar perspective about the project.

There are thousands of ideas. A few are:

1.To explain the conception of density, put an egg in a bowl of water and see if it floats or sinks. Replace the water with salt water, sugar water, oil and varied other liquids of dissimilar densities and report the results.

2.Make a easy lever with a pencil and an ice cream stick. Balance coins on both ends and explain the principle.

3.Test the magnetic force of a magnet by exterior it with paper, plastic, aluminum foil etc. Check its magnetic power.

4.Make dissimilar designs of airplanes and test which ones fly the best.

5.Find out if white or dark objects get heated faster in the sun.

6.Demonstrate how a solar/lunar eclipse occurs.

7.Make a compass with a needle and cork.

8.Plant seeds and watch them grow.

9.Explain the water cycle.

So, a first grade science fair task is a scientific touch and will be one that child will never forget.

5.0 out of 5 stars love this watch, November 7, 2006

    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Casio Men's GW700A-1V G-Shock Solar Atomic Watch (Watch)
This is the best digital watch I have had. The other watches were "water resistant" but I found out that the water resistance went out the window once the seal was broken by replacing the battery which always seemed to be needed sooner than I expected. Since this is a solar watch I do not expect to have to replace the battery (and break the seal) for years. It was charged and at the correct time out of the box. It automatically resets the time every day from a signal in Fort Collins, CO. (No problem in IN) which is supposed to cover all of the USA. It also adjusted automatically to DST. In addition it has 5 alarms which are easy to set so I have used them through the day as reminders. The weak "link" so to speak may be the plastic band. It will likely break before the watch and I'm not sure it can be replaced.

5.0 out of 5 stars Casio G Shock Atomic Watch, June 10, 2007

Axel (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Casio Men's GW700A-1V G-Shock Solar Atomic Watch (Watch)
    Delighted with this purchase:

    1. High degree of functionality (solar-powered atomic watch, day/date/month calendar, times in multiple international cities (good for travel) stop watch, alarms).

    2. Easy to set up out of the box.

    3. Very helpful knowing that a watch always is accurate (synchronizes with atomic clock daily).

    4. The watch/strap are heavy, but much of this is attributable to having a watch that (i)has a radio receiver, and (ii) is solar-powered (solar panel infrastructure + rechargeable battery).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Gshock choice, September 6, 2005
    By
Youri (Scottsdale, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
I spent a few hours online researching my next Gshock. The first one ran out of batteries and after window shopping I ended up liking the features of the GW700A-1v the most. I considered the Casio GW500A-1V, but preferred the look of the 700. My reasons behind purchasing and recommending it are:

    Bonus of having

    Atomic time update

Multi city time zones as well as dual time option (I travel to Europe and have relatives in other countries so this is a personal bonus).

I don't think the watch is really all that heavy. I wanted a workout/summer/go anywhere watch and with the solar power and atomic time updates I really think I'll enjoy it for years to come.

It definitely pays to surf the net and compare pricing too.
